I was just looking at this blog yesterday. Sigh. It is not dead!
SOMEDAYYYYYYY! SOMEHOWWWWWWW! SOMEWHERRREEEEEE!
I still love you.
Cara.
I promise I haven’t forgotten you entirely! I will see you again one day and then we shall make magic.
I feel as though we should add another musical number in transit. Like, they have Learn to Do It after the train crashes but I feel like there should be a travelling song? Maybe that incorporates chorus because we do need more chorus numbers.
And I think there could be a nice duet that occurs between Anya and Demitri when they part ways in Paris. Like, he could be in the park and she’s in her room and there is a sort of overlapping beautiful duet about something. Again the windows I talked about could come into play here.
Also, I think we’ll need to add and extra verse to Once Upon A December/just make the whole song bigger. I’ve already mentioned the possibility/need of a longer dance break but I feel that song could really just be juiced up a bit and just hit the higher Broadway mark.
I’m thinking that Rasputin only has that one number and it is a little…I don’t know…90’s. Yeah, I think it’s too 90’s. It kind of needs to be contemporised and I thought he could even have a secondary song.
I think Journey to the Past and Rumour in St. Petersberg are already good Broadway-esque numbers. Same with Paris Holds The Key (though we discussed extending that to be a major chorus number). I really think it is almost to late to be the pre-interval song but it would work so well. Maybe we need more plot in Paris? Maybe Demitri attempts to woo Anya more and we see their relationship become stronger before they meet with the Duchess. Maybe that’s where the duet comes in…?
I don’t have one in mind of anything but I thought it would be an interesting idea. Maybe not a main character but someone who is in one particular part - such as the train or the boat.
I was actually thinking about this myself. I think we might need to add some comic relief, nothing to over the top or crazy, but just a character that pop up and delivers a great one liner. I’m very open to this idea and I think it would work extremely well.

Speaking of which…what do you want to do with Pooka?
I feel like this is another character we might have to get rid of? Or maybe have it be a smaller animal? I feel like this is one of those things that works well in animation but would be difficult to translate to the stage.
Yeah, it is really an unnecessary character - and I personal hate it when they train live animals for a show too.
